I go by Ian the Korean (ITK) on the mic. I'm an emcee — the cypher is where I live, that spur-of-the-moment circle where rappers take turns off the top. I record and engineer my own music out of my home studio.
I joined Soul Food Cypher (SFC) in 2024 — Atlanta's freestyle rap community, founded in 2011. SFC meets the fourth Sunday of every month and has been covered by ArtsATL, Atlanta Magazine, WABE, and Creative Loafing. In 2025 I graduated from SFC NEXT, SFC's artist development program. Through SFC I also taught a freestyle class at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, a Kennesaw-based youth behavioral health provider. In 2025 I did a live on-air freestyle on WREK 91.1, Atlanta's independent college radio station. I also perform bi-weekly at Aux Session ATL, the Thursday-night open mic at Dream Sound Studio in Riverdale, GA, hosted by Resilient Ripp.
Before the mic, I spent five years as a competitive snare drummer in DCI and WGI — three seasons with ConneXus Indoor Percussion (2017–2019) and two with the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps (2018–2019). Drumline section leader my final season.
